Perfect Pairings :: Winter Bird Studio + Scorched Earth + Pinocean + Garden of Beads

The bright bold colors is what attracted me to this pair of earrings. That and the petal shape of the main component. I like the textures that are in play here...the dripped paint effect, the filigree brass leaves, the dots on the tiny spacers. These earrings would perk up anyone with mid-winter blues!

Perfect Pairings :: Sarah Raines + Humblebeads + Gardanne Beads

Owls can be quite stately and somber, or whimsical and festive, like this one here. I love the addition of the forest dangles and the charming expression on the face of this owl. The colors are mellow and warm and would be perfect to adorn any sweater in your closet. This would be my go-to necklace for everyday!

Perfect Pairings :: Anne Schroeder + Andrew Thornton

I think what grabbed me first with this necklace was the bright mango-yellow color of the stones. Yellow is such a hard color for me when designing that I admire it all the more when I see a dynamic yellow design. Turns out this is the perfect color of November. Then I got sucked in by the irregular shape. I love me some chunky faceted beads! They have the shape of the suns rays that radiate from the relief that is our inspiration. But that bronze coin by Andrew Thornton really steals the show. It has such great detail and conveys not just wisdom but also an uplifting sensation of flight paired with the comfort of being wrapped up in love in those feathery wings. It is a delightful choice for this month's challenge.

Perfect Pairings :: SJ Designs Jewelry + Stone Designs Studio

Nothing says Art Nouveau more to me than the graceful curving lines of a dragonfly or damselfly.
This month we are treated to a stunning glass lamp that must look absolutely breathtaking when lit. Sarajo Wentling captured the cursive flowing lines of the dragonfly lamp and the color scheme perfectly in this romantic necklace.

While you are checking out her design thought process, be sure to click through and read her review of her weekend with our own Heather Powers in the annual Inspired by Nature retreat that was just last weekend!

Perfect Pairings :: Raspberry Fields Design + Golem Studios

The pendant in this necklace is crafted from a ceramic poppy cabochon from Golem Studios and some really fine bead embroidery. Seed beads have always been my nemesis in the beading world. So I am always stunned to see them wrangled so handily. I love the mix of colors (that bright pop of red!), the finishes (matte and metallic!), and the intricate nature of the design (those twigs holding the glass leaves!). This is a gorgeous piece of handcrafted goodness. We thank Raspberry Fields Design for sharing it with us!

Perfect Pairings :: WinterBirdStudio + DonnaPerlinplim + Garden of Beads + Glass by Leese + ArtIncendi

The playful artwork for August evokes the feeling of walking in a park in the fall. The trees seem to be alive with color and almost dancing. Same is true for this beautiful bib style necklace from WinterBirdStudio. The ceramic focal components seem like shards of a long forgotten piece of pottery with a very 70s color palette that plays perfectly with this month's challenge art. And this would be the perfect necklace to wear on a stroll through the park.

Perfect Pairings :: Terris Blooming Ideas + Tesori Trovati

I love the softness of the falling leaves/petals in this design. They are punctuated by the pops of the buttery yellow and the texture of the tiny silver flower beads, which I especially love. The pendant works well with these elements and reinforces the garden palette. Such a pretty melange of colors and textures!

Perfect Pairings :: Alison Adorns + Diane Hawkey

Aside from the spot-on colors in this piece, I was drawn most to the word bead by Diane Hawkey. I always have about a dozen of them in my stash just waiting for the right time. After the events that have been happening in my life and in the world, and most specifically in Orlando (I just returned from there yesterday), this sentiment really grabbed at my soul. And I think that it is a word that perfectly embodies the spirit of this lovely art image as well. There is a serenity and harmony in the face of that woman swathed in turquoise robes, surrounded by sweet smelling roses, something I think that everyone could use a dose of right about now.

Perfect Pairings :: SJ Designs Jewelry + Round Rabbit

If you can find in your stash the perfect beads for the monthly challenge, I call that a WIN! SJ found these sweet and dainty little floral charms from Round Rabbit and they just so happen to be the perfect shade of turquoise and tangerine. They really do pull in the colors of the art image for June and the brass gives them a vintage feel.

Perfect Pairings :: Bay Moon Design + Mary Harding

These intense cobalt blues mixed with the more earthy browns, bronze and tan are what drew me to this bracelet for the challenge. It wasn't until I hopped over and saw more angles of this bracelet that I could see the knotting and the textures. It reminds me of branches against a clear blue sky and I love all the different textures going on. And that button! I love buttons as clasps!

Perfect Pairings :: WinterBird Studios + Lisa Peters Art + Elukka + Helen Chalmers + Mia Only Beads

[Okay! April is a tough month for me to do anything that is not dance performance/prom related, so I messed up last week and missed picking someone for the Perfect Pairings. So today, you get TWO!]

As soon as I saw this pretty necklace I knew that this was the one. The color palette is so perfectly spot on to the inspiration painting. I love the subtle details that are placed just perfectly... the dragonfly emerging from the pendant...the blooming florals...the leaf...the house. It is elegant with the beautiful gemstone rounds in soft shifting colors. This evokes a fairy garden complete with a home for a gnome!

[Okay! April is a tough month for me to do anything that is not dance performance/prom related, so I messed up last week and missed picking someone for the Perfect Pairings. So today, you get TWO!]

I am a great lover of orphan beads. Not just because I have a lot of singles that are just hanging out with me after their brothers and sisters were destined for another design, but I also make no secret that I can't resist a sale on orphans from ANY bead maker. Shaiha seems to have the same vibe and she picked up this stunning tube bead from Sue Kennedy recently in a destash. Sweet serendipity that the design and colors work perfectly with this month's painting! I also like to pair up art beads from different artists. It is always satisfying to see how well you all play together! This is a great use of those orphans and a simple design style that would make quick jewelry for all palettes and occasions!
