My interest is now piqued! I also tried something that I had seen on Alisa Burke's blog -- I hand painted a t-shirt with water colour tie-dye and fabric markers and just totally lost myself in both forms of art...I usually collage (and just started using photoshop to do digital this summer too). And thank you, Malin, for the congratulations.

I enjoy trying new things related some way or other to beading and jewellery making every now and then. This summer I've tried stampin on leather and I've bought special paint to create rusty surfaces. Finger knitting with beads was an interesting experiment. And I finally got around to try riveting, both using pre-made rivets and making the whole rivet myself. Plus freeform RAW (inspired by NanC Meinhardt).

And I've begun thinking about trying something else: silk ribbon embroidery. But that hasn't happened yet -- and there are always making thing I want to try, but never get around to for one reason or another...Manekihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13362626785474144154noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5157095593736922566.post-17728277302915976292010-09-04T12:14:34.537-04:002010-09-04T12:14:34.537-04:00I did try some new things this summer--mostly with...I did try some new things this summer--mostly with metal, dapping, etc. Today I am going to try experimenting with some different patinas.
Erin SErinhttp://eastrother1@gmail.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5157095593736922566.post-38522870661339766602010-09-04T11:55:49.037-04:002010-09-04T11:55:49.037-04:00My gosh, you could have been describing me. Once I get started on something I'm OK. There are so many new things I would like to try. One thing I did do is create a necklace using a wasp nest. Lucky you! GRATTIS Kristina!

Did I try something new? Well, I guess it is kind of all new to me in a sense, jewellery making. I am very much a learner still, with all techniques, even the most basic ones. But I am getting more and more skilled over time. So I felt confident enough to open my own Etsy shop in the summer. That was something new to me.

And I also took up an old skill again. Sewing. Haven't done that for years. But how amazing it was when I sat down at the sewing machine. My hands just started moving around very professionally. I apparently know that machine like the back of my own hand. So I made a very nice skirt that I wore to a wedding.

Otherwise there wasn't anything especially new happening this summer.Malin de Koninghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08479961009540756244noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5157095593736922566.post-67923172040734667902010-09-04T09:53:49.684-04:002010-09-04T09:53:49.684-04:00Create sounds like it was great fun! We have always just stringed our work on beading wire. We both have enjoyed how our designs look with the chain, and I think we are hooked. I can't say I was wrong, but I did learn some things which will make it easier the next time.

I know what you mean about being overwhelmed by the choices when you sit down to create. When this happens, I pull out a magazine or pattern and work for a picture that limits my choices for me. Usually this gets me on track.
