About the Art
Our inspiration this month is from Picasso's his Rose Period. The Rose Period signifies the time when the style of Pablo Picasso's painting used cheerful orange and pink colours in contrast to the cool, somber tones of the previous Blue Period. The Rose Period lasted from 1904 to 1906. Harlequins, circus performers and clowns appear frequently in the Rose Period and will populate Picasso's paintings at various stages through the rest of his long career. The harlequin, a comedic character usually depicted in checkered patterned clothing, became a personal symbol for Picasso..
About the Artist
Pablo Picasso (25 October 1881 – 8 April 1973), was a Spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, and stage designer who spent most of his adult life in France. One of the greatest and most influential artists of the 20th century, he is widely known for co-founding the Cubist movement, the invention of constructed sculpture, the co-invention of collage, and for the wide variety of styles that he helped develop and explore.
Picasso demonstrated extraordinary artistic talent in his early years, painting in a realistic manner through his childhood and adolescence. During the first decade of the 20th century, his style changed as he experimented with different theories, techniques, and ideas. His revolutionary artistic accomplishments brought him universal renown and immense fortune, making him one of the best-known figures in 20th-century art.
We have a new spin to our challenge this month. We'd like encourage you to make a blue bracelet inspired by our challenge piece and consider sending it in to the 7000 Bracelets Project. Take a moment to read about this program that offers awareness and support for caregivers of children with rare genetic diseases. I know that many in our community have participated and there have been some wonderful blog hops, but I'd like to rally our readers together to donate at least 200 bracelets this month. That is only 10% off our daily subscribers and I know we can do it! To date the 7000 Bracelets project have collected over 1000 bracelets.

What is an Art Bead?
An art bead is a bead, charm, button or finding made by an independent artist. Art beads are the vision and handiwork of an individual artist. You can read more about art beads here.
***A bead that is handmade is not necessarily an art bead. Hill Tribe Silver, Kazuri ceramic beads or lampwork beads made in factories are examples of handmade beads that are not considered art beads.
Beaded beads, stamped metal pendants or wire-wrapped components are not considered art beads for our challenge.***
p.s. If you have a blog, post your entry and a link to the ABS challenge to spread the beady goodness.

I was actually toying with the idea of skipping a month during the busy summer. But,I definitely want to help ABS contribute to Bracelets of Hope.Wonderful idea !!! m.e. :)
I love the spin this month! I have seen that logo before I'm sure but I don't think I had read the concept before in its entirety. When I did my degree part of my favourite subject mater was gene regulation. My brain is revving up research mode!
Love the theme and the donation idea. I will see what I can do this month.
Hello: You know if you add one of those Share buttons, it would make sharing info about this easier for most readers. Then I wouldn't have to come back just to let you know I posted about this on my blog, on Twitter, and Facebook.
I posted again and uploaded my new pictures. I created bracelets this time just to donate, the piece I was going to submit I just can't decide what to do, but it made me work out of my comfort zone...check it out at my blog
