Studio Saturday with Cindy Gimbrone

Welcome to Studio Saturday! Each week one of our contributors gives you a sneak peek into their studio, creative process or inspirations. We ask a related question of our readers and hope you'll leave comments! As an incentive we offer a free prize each week to bribe you to use that keyboard. The following week we choose a random winner.

Last week's winner is Cetta! Congratulations! You have won a toggle clasp from Lynn! Send an email to Lynn and she will get it right out to you.

Welcome to the Studio of Cindy Gimbrone!

I've done something a little different this week. Instead of still photography, I've created my first Studio Saturday Vlog!

Looking forward to reading your comments!

Hi Cindy,

I tried to watch the video, but it says i have to accept the sender's fried request. How do i do that, or something wrong with my computer?

Thanks!

When I click on the video it tells me it is private and I must accept the sender's friend request. Not sure what I need to be doing.

Cindy, I think there seems to be a problem in your video. I can't watch it just like the others. I really want to view that. I know that I will learn new things in the video.

Sorry about that guys! I wasn't aware there was a privacy setting on the video and I was away on a vacation - sorry for your frustration!

I've ferreted out the problem and the video is public now!

I hope you had a great vacation Cindy! Loved your video - you are so funny. Hmm, will wire moustaches be the the hot trend for you, you may have started something. My current favorite tool is my new camera!

Loved the video and great tip about the water. I'll be sure to do that from now on. My favorite tool is my roundnose pliers -- boring, but there's nothing like the satisfaction of a nice round loop!

Love the vlog! Cindy, your quirkiness is so much fun. Please do more of these.

The video is great, Cindy. Its really fun to see the personalities of the artists we have gotten to know online. In answer to your question, very boring chain and round nose pliers are my most utilized tools, but I have to say my favorite is my metal hole punch pliers, which inspire me to say, "I LOVE these pliers!" every time I use them.

Favorite tool today.. that's a tough one... I'll say one of the tools I used today: bent-nose pliers. Never understood what was so great with them as I had straight chain-nose pliers. Then I used them and now I can't imagine working without them.

(If a computer with internet access counts as tool it the runner-up: I'm bead shopping right now. Yum! It's one of my most dangerous tools too... at least for my wallet...)

I have been using my tweezer/scoop combo tool a lot lately. It's handy to gently pry open tiny chain links or tuck in wire. The vlog idea is great. I'm such a visual learner. It's also fun to see the people who create blogs in action.

My current favorite tool? I think right now it's my round nose pliers. We've been BFFs for the past few days!

My favorite tool??? My hands, followed by my round nose plyers. I love wire wrapping even though I'm not very good at it. But I still love it!

That was a great video and I will be looking at some double dips from your site.

I have to say that my favorite tool is my flat nose undented pliers. Before really getting into this, I used the dented ones, and was really frustrated that no matter how much tape or coating I put on them, they would still scratch my metals. Now I do not have to worry about this, and I use them in almost every project. Even when working with clay (to not touch the metal skewers right after they come out of the oven)

Thanks for the video, it was great and happy to have finally been able to see it.

Hi Cindy!
Such a cute video, THanks for sharing! I would have to say right now my new favorite tool is my new Fretz circle hammer, makes such fun circle patterns on metal and it's so sexy! Did I just call my hammer sexy.....well if you have seen a fretz hammer you know what I mean. But you know cindy it's so hard to coose just one tool!

Cindy, Cindy, loved the video! Had no problem seeing it. I'm with Heather P. my favorite tool is my new camera! Where would we be without a good camera to communicate our work and inspiration!! Of course a close second would be my torch!

Cindy Gimbrone said...

Thanks for coming back to see the video! Yup that's me, quirky and dressed in the latest trend - a double dip moustache! LOL!

My favourite tool today would be my two flat nose pliers. Coz I've been using them when opening and closing jumprings linking some other parts to make my own little piece of chain. And then they were also used when I needed too pull hard and tight some soft multistranded wire with beads on it to form my own circle. And then again when I crimped a bead to close that loop, and to close a cover bead over the crimp bead (you know the kind that becomes a ball once you closed them).

Your double dips Cindy are awesome. And it was very nice to see you in action. More of that kind of stuff on Art Bead Scene please.

All my best!

I loved the video! Thanks for taking the time to make it.
My favorite tool is my bent nose pliers and apparently my son must enjoy it too because it's M.I.A. Poor pliers, I know they're not being used properly.

Cindy, you are a hoot! I enjoyed watching the video and the little sneak peeks of your studio.

Your Double Dips are just the sweetest and have hundreds of design possibilities. I'd love to win one!

My favorite tool right now is my very new micro torch. To be honest, I was afraid of the thing for some time, but now it has become my friend.

How cute are you! I loved your video! My favorite tool today are/is... my finger nails! They are always (pardon the pun) at hand. Easy to find. Ugly as sin so I don't mind using them! Plus they are just long enough to scrape that little bit of clay off the back of the pendants when I poke a hole! Not to mention the work they can perform a miracle on a booger. Just kidding!

Rebecca said...

Hilarious! I love your double dip moustache. My favourite tool today is...my Lindstrom flush cutters. I use them for everything (sure I'm not meant to!) - wire, thread, cord....they slice through anything!

Julie said...

OMG, Cindy... way to funny to watch you do your thing. I'm going to have to check what you've done w/ your double-dips!

My favorite tool is my electric mandrel spinner, for sure. Great for my hands & fantastic for getting that glass melted, on the mandrel & balanced/shaped so quickly so I can start decorating!

Hey Cindy, Stop making out with your water bottle!

My favorite tool is a jacked up knife. I took the smallest matte knife I could find and placed it in an exacto handle... makes super fine cuts in the hot glass! I love it!
