Studio Saturday with Jennifer Heynen

Welcome to Studio Saturday! Each week one of our contributors gives you a sneak peek into their studio, creative process or inspirations. We ask a related question of our readers and hope you'll leave comments! As an incentive we offer a free prize each week to bribe you to use that keyboard. The following week we choose a random winner.

Last weeks winner is Beth and Evie . Congratulations you've won one of Cindy's word beads! Send Cindy an e-mail and she will get it right out to you.

Hey there! As usual there is a lot going on at the Jennifer Jangles Studio. We've added classes at the Gallery and Studio and they start this week. Today is our first kids clay class. I'm not teaching, I have enlisted a wonderful local art teacher to help with that. But I will be there running the gallery.

I have been working on loads and loads of new holiday beads, pendants, charms, sewing projects, you name it. It's so much fun. I am gearing up for my holiday project newsletters. They start October 6th and that's not very far away. I am giving out coupons for anyone who signs up, you can read more and sign up here.
Besides the holiday projects, I have been working on new fabric. I am super excited about this line called Tussie Mussie. Here's a sneak peek of one of the fabrics. Retailers are ordering it now so it will be in your local quilt shop in late January.

This has to be the question for the week...Are you even thinking about Holiday gifts or is it just too early? Leave me a comment and you will be entered to win some of my Halloween beads.

Happy Saturday!

Jennifer Heynen a.k.a. Jennifer Jangles

I think about holidays all year long! Part of it is because of limited income.....can't buy it all at once. The other part, is that I enjoy thinking about making or giving gifts and I'm just always on the hunt for a special gift or project. Love your new fabric!

This post is helping me to get in gear! I had started thinking about it when I found some pretty candy cane beads at our local bead store (Nawbin) but that's as far as I got up until now. Thanks for asking!

I am thinking about the holidays gifts and decorations!

I haven't even started thinking about the holidays yet! Usually I get in gear around now, but life has been too chaotic this summer.

Nope, I'm totally a gift procrastinator! I won't think about it for at least another month or two :)

I am not thinking Christmas yet, but I have already been working on Halloween stuff. Those beads are adorable!

Mellisa mentioned "gift procrastinator" - that's me too. Until I read your post didn't even realize how close we are to holidays. Now that I've got a gentle prodding to think about it.... Well.... I'll get to it....

I do have to admit as the weather turns cooler my thoughts turn to Christmas and gifts. before i became a maker i never thought about Christmas until about November time, but now i have to start to think about it quite early. My main contemplation this year is whether or not to make any gifts. I found it quite stressful last year, what with college and a job to contend with as well, I haven't come to a decision yet, i suppose i ought to quite soon ha ha

I admire people who do production lines. I get fed up and wish to go to another project after 1 element. Your new products are very inspiring.

Hi Jennifer,
OH NO....it can't possibly be too early to start thinking about holiday gifts. I work for the postal service as a letter carrier. I try to do my shopping or gift creating as early as I can because when it gets too close to the holidays, I'm WAY too tired to think about going shopping after work. UGH!
I like to make a lot of my gifts too so now is a perfect time to get started. The kids are back in school and I have a day off during the week filled with peace and quiet to create!!
Thanks,
Joan E Brands

with all good intentions i am starting to think holiday gifts. Admittedly in the past early crowing about being SOOO organised has resulted in last minute scrambling for things i forgot!

As a matter of fact, I have started thinking about holiday gifts! I've even purchased a few, and also have purchased a few "special" beads for some special gifts...Of course, I do have to start this early...If I don't, I simply don't have enough money for the holidays.

Love your studio!!!

way too early- makes me feel a little nauseous to start thinking about it. I wish I was like those people who are finished shopping by thanksgiving so they can enjoy the season- that is not me!

hi! love your snowpeople too! actually, i almost never think about holiday gifts until about a week before Christmas/Hannukah. (I'm an All Hallows person) But this year,i saw groups of 3 pieces (big sequined magenta saucers, plastic magenta prisms and i forget the 3rd one) in a huge Etsy shop. combined they would make unique, faux fancy ornaments for the tree, mantle, wherever. Inexpensive and easy to assemble. Not quite so easy to pack, but hey you can't have everything. This was way back in May. i bought enough for the neighborhood library, the letter carrier, too. can't wait to get to work.

I always tell myself that I am going to start early this year and then end up waiting until the last moment. I find I do tend to create better under stress.

I have to admit I'm a last minute shopper but this year I'm vowing to decorate lots more and much sooner. I will have two of my adult children living with us this holiday season and I thought it would be fun to treat them like kids again and decorate, carve pumpkins, pick apples, cut down the tree, etc.

Definitely thinking about holiday designs but so far can't get out of fall fashion mode, making lots of stuff for 2 fall fairs coming in Nov. I should get on the stick with Christmas/Hanukkah stuff.

I have started thinking about holiday gifts, but haven't actually started to work on them. Your Holiday Newsletter will be a good motivator.

Wow, holidays already. I know I'm a little late for all this but I can't seem to wrap my head around it yet. Bravo to those who can, inspires!

Definitely have not started thinking about the holidays yet, but love that you have reminded us all to get to it!

Love, love those adorable Halloween beads!

Seeing your snowmen all lined-up and ready to go is another reminder of how just-not-ready for the holidays I always am. Whew! I'm just recovering from the summertime rush!

Yes, I am already thinking about the holidays. Such cute beads!

I've already gotten several Christmas gifts purchased -- the real tricks are (a) remember where I stashed them when it's time to wrap and mail the gifts and (b) remember who the heck I thought this was perfect for when I bought it back in June...

As soon as the weather starts turning cool, I start counting the weeks until Christmas! Not that that helps me plan any better, but I do start thinking about it. A procrastinator at heart, I tend to put off everything to the last minute -- in my case, "thinking" is not necessarily "doing" -- much to my chagrin. I think I'm a daydreamer at heart!

Ain't it the truth, Bobbie!
