Beverly Herman sent me these photos of pendants she found at Michael's and I knew I had to share them with you! Guess where I'll be heading today? You could fill up that little window with an image and resin or a tiny charm in resin.
I tried to find more information about the line, but it wasn't available online. I have been told that Micheal's also carries chain to match the patina finish.
The trick to using inexpensive components in your jewelry is to add art beads to compliment the pieces - like I have done here with the Industrial Chic findings - also from Michael's. I added one of my eggs and Green Girl Studio nest. This offers your designs a unique touch even though you are using store bought components. This strategy can also help stretch your beading budget by mixing art beads with less expensive findings.
Excellent tip, thank you! Kinda how I put my wardrobe together. LOL.
Those are awesome! I see a trip to Michael's in my future
i had to smile when i read this - i was recently challenged to make something with components from michaels - and i was drawn to rustic canyon... your suggestions about how to combine the pieces is helpful...
That is my favorite way to bead. And that egg treasure necklace is still one of my very favorites of yours! I am off to look for this new line!
Enjoy the day!
Great finding! That necklace is beautiful. I also do the mixing with handmade. I always try to make the handmade more. Nowadays budget is always something to consider.
Man, I don't get out much. I can't believe you can buy stuff like that at Michael's. Heather, your pieces are always interesting and timeless.
Please, please tell it here if these Rustic canyon findings are on any beaders' web store to be found! Just that kind of pendants are to my taste!
(Or, if anyone will sell me through one's Etsy-shop?)
Just saw these new components at Michael's the other day. I like them!
Hi Heather, good ol Michael' is good for some fantastic unique components, last time i was there they are even starting to sell metal stamping supplies. If you look at the back of the package for the company name ie: blue moon sometimes you can find info on there spacfic web site.love that necklace could hide a love note or a special keepsake inside. thanks for the great tips Heather! ttfn L:) Miss Erin i am following u :p
Guess who else will be going to Michael's soon! Thanks for sharing!
I just printed off a coupon for Michaels and will be headed to the city today to see what I can find.
Love your necklace with the blue egg beads!
Sometimes Blue Moon Products are sold at Create for Less.com - Love the Industrial Chic line as even though it is affordable it is a high quality product! As Always great ides Heather
I love what you created! I shop at Michael's from time to time - I'll have to keep my eyes peeled :)
Thank you for your friendly advice, ladies ;-D
I love the nicho pendant! Went to a smaller Michael's store and they didn't have it. I'll try calling a bigger store.
I was in Michaels' on Fri morning (East Coast Canadian store)and saw those... was trying to find out what metal they were made out of as some of the chain was really pretty! Looks like copper but I'm sure it must be plated something! There was some nice beads that matched too!
This was very inspiring creatively.
So in the spirit of inspiration...
New York finally making everyone happy. Here is my response back. I hope it helps you as much as this helped me.
Yes, love mixing art beads in with inexpensive components. It saves on the beading budget but also gives my design an extra one-of-a-kind "umph".
