Each week the Art Bead Scene features a Designer of the Week. One of our editors picks her favorite from the Monthly Challenge entries.
The Art Bead Scene Designer of the Week is BeeTree by m.e.
It was really hard to make a selection this week as there are so many wonderful and inspired designs in the pool for October. But I was drawn to this necklace in particular because of the way Mary Ellen has captured the warm, slightly hazy colours in her handmade polymer beads. I also love the contemporary aesthetic she has kept in her necklace with the strong geometric shapes, the asymmetry - and then that unexpected touch of softness and femininity with the spot of sari silk, tied to one side. A unique and original take on this month's inspiration piece.
Rebecca is a Scottish jewellery designer and singer, currently living in Manchester, England. You can read more about beads and singing at her blog, songbeads.blogspot.com and see more of her jewellery at songbead.etsy.com.
