Best of Studio Saturday's with Creative Impressions In Clay

Welcome to Studio Saturday! Each week one of our contributors gives you a sneak peek into their studio, creative process or inspirations. We ask a related question of our readers and hope you'll leave comments! As an incentive we offer a free prize each week to bribe you to use that keyboard. The following week we choose a random winner.
This weeks winner is somethingunique Congratulations! You have won a set of beads from Gaea's etsy shop!
Send Gaea an e-mail with your address and she will get it right out to you.
This week we visit the studio of Tari Sasser at
Creative Impressions In Clay.

Good Saturday Morning! Life is crazy as usual. A little crazier getting ready for a graduation party for my son in a week. Guess who's doing home repairs? OK, me. I haven't been doing much in the studio. Above is my backsplash on a budget. I'm not quite done, it has to be sealed and all the outlet covers need to be put back.

I used 6"x6" squares of heavy scrapbook paper and Modge Podged them to the wall in a random pattern. It turned out pretty cool and I love it. Bright colors and fun patterns for my kitchen.

These are new designs I created in March for one of my favorite customers, Lucy at the The Cheshire Cat in Montpelier, Vermont. Yes, I love Lucy!
These were for her spring clothing line. Now I have the Birds and Bees and everything is Rosie.

The large rice beads above were originally shown in a Studio Saturday in October. I had a necklace planned for these beads but a different idea came about. The dotted beads were made with loops and attached to the striped bead for a great pattern contrast. A splash of color was added with the anodized aluminum rings. Voila an extra fun pair of dangle earrings.

My question today is:
What have you put on hold while you do something else?
Or, what would you rather be doing?

Leave a comment answering the question and you could win the 2 Rose Buttons and Bird Button.
Not in the colors shown but same design.

Feeling Sassy as usual!

Its Saturday morning, 70% chance of rain today...I have a jewelry show planned for this evening at my friend's house need to get a few last minute details to work out. Getting a new roof to the house, terrible week to pick, it has been rain, rain and more rain. What would I rather be doing ? A workshop on metal smithing that was in my plans...but had to be taken off the list due to the new roof. Hope your weekend is getting off to a good start.

LOVE the earrings!

I would rather be making earrings and resin necklaces, preparing to open an Etsy shop, but I work full-time, am about to go away for two weeks, and seem to be the only one who likes a (fairly) clean house!

But while I'm gone I'm going to plan my Etsy shop and production line so I can jump right on it when I get back. The house can be sloppy for awhile!

I usually have 3-4 projects in the works at a time, so I switch around alot. Right now I am thinking about Christmas in July items and I can not find the one thing that I need to make my ornaments with! Oh well, I guess it is time to start looking for it again.

Something is ALWAYS on hold. Sometimes because I just don't feel like working on it--sometimes because something else is more important. Probably the MOST on hold thing is cleaning/organizing, because that is never any fun. I haven't dusted my office since 2006.

I've put working in my studio on hold while I am on a long term work assignment in our nation's capitol. I've been in DC for the major part of the last seven months. As a result, I've spent very few days at home and even fewer in the studio. I miss it. Love the idea of the backsplash. Very colorful and fun.

I will put almost anything on hold to go out and play with my grandkids! I don't want to miss any opportunities to spend time with them, so if there's ever anytime I can spend with them, I'll drop whatever I'm doing and go. Especially a mop, dustpan, or load of laundry.

Awesome way to decorate! =) I am putting off selling on Etsy while I get more products made! I'd rather have 50 of something to sell than one thing at a time! I just found you on Twitter, and I love those button roses and birds you've made - They would look great with the new outfit I'm sewing! :)

I will put what ever on hold if I am inspired to work on my beads. I am a caregiver for my elderly folks, so trying to find me time is important. I love, love, love the backsplash. I am a scrapper, so I recognize some of the prints. How "bubbly" the paper seems. Great job!

I keep putting off cleaning my studio--I get distracted by all the pretty beads!

All creative fun is on hold until my Kids Fitness Camp is over next week.

On hold:

Etsy shop
Jewelry designs {why is it when you do finally get around to cleaning your work area, you become extremely inspired?!}
Having friends over to enjoy the hot weather

Because of:

Hosting a bridal tea for my friend who's getting married! {Well worth putting things on hold, now it's over & I can start tackling things}

I will put off housework to just about anything else!
I'd much rather be making jewelry than working at my day job. (I wish jewelry making was my day job!)

I am cleaning instead of making jewelry because I have friends coming over Thursday after work. I'd much rather be making jewelry or reading, or sleeping, or petting the dog... you get the idea :-)

Actually I've had to put all my jewelry making on hold to get some other things done that are on a schedule. I'm hoping to get back to my jewelry making ASAP
Love the beads.

I love the dots. I recently went through a dotted fun collection day on a few sites I sell on. Dots are everywhere and they always make be smile. Vibrant colors or just a simple dot can make something plain look amazing. The beads and earrings above are gorgeous too. Such a fun post. I love coming to this blog.
