Down the Rabbit Hole

Okay, you know where I'm heading tonight!  I've actually been working on Alice themes and jewelry for a while; they just haven't made it online because I've been tucking them away for publications.  So let's chat about Alice, motifs and beads.

Visually - charms and pendants are plentiful in these designs.
Rabbit :: Tea Party :: Mushrooms :: Hedgehogs :: Flamingos :: Queen of Hearts :: Roses :: Cards :: Cheshire Cat :: Bottles :: Keys :: Keyholes :: Watches :: Mirror :: Roses :: Books

Colors - find accent beads, ribbon, or focal beads in these colors.
Blue - from Alice's iconic dress
Red & White - the queens & the mushroom
Black & White Stripes - thanks to Disney

Phrases - stamp them into metal or clay, print them out and use them in resin pendants or etch them unto copper or brass pendants.
Curiouser and curiouser
We're all mad here
Off with her head
Drink me
Uncommon nonsense
Adventures first
Happy unbirthday

Here is a design by Lorelei Eurto that is a perfect example of putting together these elements tell a story.

Did I miss anything?  Would you add something to the list above? I'd love to hear about it.  Have you made  Alice inspired jewelry that features art beads?

Bonus Giveaway!
Win these two Alice pendants from me.  Leave a comment or a link to your Alice creation and one lucky winner will be randomly picked on Tuesday.

I made an Alice inspired quilted vest once upon a time and it had the Twinkle, Twinkle Little Bat poem embroidered on it....so I always think of teatrays.
Twinkle, twinkle, little bat!
How I wonder what you're at!
Up above the world you fly,
Like a teatray in the sky.
Twinkle, twinkle little bat!
How I wonder what you're at!

Pick me, pick me! When I was 5 or 6 I had a blue pinafore dress and long blonde hair often held back by a ribbon. For some of my mother's friends my nickname was Alice in Wonderland!

I would add
"Into the Garden"
"Who are you?"
"Silence"
"Troubling You"
"How Silly"
I love the jewelry and the pendants. It is a great depiction of this story

Eat me: if it makes me grow larger, I can reach the key; and if it makes me grow smaller, I can creep under the door; so either way I'll get into the garden, and I don't care which happens!'
I love Alice in Wonderland and I love the pendants!

Oh Gosh this is the big weekend isn't it!!?? I have lost track of time. I'm not sure if any of the theaters have it showing this weekend. We don't always get new releases on their opening date, but within a week or so we will. Funny thing though this is not a movie that has long been waited for here. The culture here really is quite different from the US and Canada even if they share the came continent!! :)

As an Alice, I have always loved the story and characters. As a boomer, I Have always loved "White Rabbit" by the Jefferson Airplane, but alas, I'll never be 10 feet tall.
But I'm in line for the movie!

Great inspiration post! I wish I had some Alice inspired jewelry - I immediately thought of the chess game - add black and white checks and chess pieces. Oh, and how about flamingos - got to have them!

The closest to Alice inspired pieces I have created were pieces of furniture that I would paint with chess board black & white borders.

I love Lorelei's bracelet!

Hi! We are mad about Alice in Wonderland - my daughter saw the movie last night! Here is our Alice statement necklace:

All the 'Alice' pieces are amazing! Having the name Alice myself, and always being teased with refrences to Alice in Wonderland, I have a love/hate relationship with it - but mostly love. I want so badly to see Tim Burton's version, but no one wants to go with me except my oldest daughter who is away at college.

I don't have any pieces or components made with this theme, but find I'm very inspired with those I see around the web.

Alice in Wonderland is by far one of the greatest and your pendants are adorable. I made a fun Mised Media Fabric Collage some time back for a nieces birthday to go along with the "Birthday Theme" of course of Alice in Wonderland. I had a blast.

I LOVE these pendants, beautifully embellished. I really have to expand and learn the technique of image transfer on metal. My list of things to learn gets longer and longer. Meanwhile, I'm swooning at the beauty of these Alice pendants and hope you'll pick me!!

I tried to make an Alice plush: http://birdboxe.livejournal.com/9112.html

It's my first time since grade eight that I've tried to make something. I didn't use a pattern, for there was little time. neverless she came out decent. On the other hand, she's not decently clothed yet; I'm getting around to making her some clothes as we speak.

And thank you for making this list of motifs. Hm... i'm quite tempted to do more on this theme now... curiouser and curiouser (and curiouser-)

Thanks for sharing all your alice inspirations! I know I'll be making more alice inspired pieces after seeing the movie.

Motifs I missed: the caterpillar (and, after seeing the movie, also the butterfly, both preferably in blue)
Favourite phrases and words:
I haven't the slightest idea
It is impossible/Only if you believe it is
Entirely bonkers/All the best people are
Hm, maybe I'll even create something with some of these...

And I love your white rabbit pendant!

Just thought of another sentence I'd like to make into a pendant or something - What's the hatter with me? *g*
I never made anything with writing on it before, but it might be fun!
